The defence has rested its case in the Raleigh, N.C. trial of Brad Cooper, the Canadian man charged with murdering his Edmonton-born wife.
Nancy Cooper, 34, went missing on July 12, 2008. Her body was found several days later in a drainage ditch near the couple's home in the Raleigh suburb of Cary, N.C.
Brad Cooper, 37, is charged with first-degree murder.
Cooper's lawyers presented about two dozen witnesses over two weeks. The defence suffered a setback early on after the court would not recognize two of their witnesses as experts in computer forensics.
The State rested its case on April 18th, but now plans to call rebuttal witnesses next week, including several police officers and employees of Cisco Systems Inc., where Brad Cooper worked.
The trial has been underway for seven weeks. On Thursday, jurors sent a note to the judge asking attorneys to "use their time more wisely" because they wanted "their lives back."
